Seasons of the Christian Year
Christ the King follows the liturgical calendar of the Christian year which is also observed by the Lutheran, Anglican, Roman and Orthodox Churches. The first Christians began to change the traditional Jewish ritual year to include celebrations of the events of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. By the sixth century, the Christian calendar was in place.  The year begins with the season of Advent, in preparation for the coming of Our Lord's birth at Christmas.  Epiphany is the "showing forth of the Light of the World." Lent is preparation for Easter. Pentecost, which was the old Jewish remembrance of God giving the Law (The Ten Commandments) to Moses, became the Christian remembrance of God giving the Holy Spirit to the Church.Worship Services
Christ the King offers worship opportunities for adults and children. We gather for worship in the main sanctuary and after the service begins children are led to separate facilities. Worship at Christ the King blends traditional and contemporary praise in a rich celebration of God's Word and the Holy Communion.
